LEONARD UDOLF

In 1929, Eli Udolf founded Udolf’s Men’s Clothier in Hartford, CT. Eli’s son, Leonard, later joined and succeeded him in the business, and in 1967, Leonard relocated the clothing store to 553 Farmington Avenue. The process of acquiring, redeveloping, and moving the business ignited Leonard’s passion for real estate. In 1968, Leonard established Udolf Properties, an owner of commercial and residential properties throughout Connecticut. Leonard owed much of his success to his innate artistic sensibilities and his commercial instincts, both of which enabled him to help revitalize the areas he so loved.

Leonard’s ability to envision the true potential of a property and how it could enhance the lifestyles of its residents resulted in a growing portfolio of buildings that has stood the test of time. To Leonard, these buildings were far more than brick and mortar: they possessed distinctive qualities that gave them character and brought them to life. After a long and storied career, Leonard left behind not just a collection of appealing properties, but more importantly, a large family, all of whom he forever imprinted with his values.
